The Payara Dragon Candy Arenca Fly continues the evolution of the Dragon series — a more castable, flashy, and lifelike fly built for the jungle’s toughest predators. Featuring my signature Dragon eyes, this pattern combines aggressive style and improved hydrodynamics to swim naturally in strong currents. Designed and tested after years of chasing Vampire Fish (Payara), it’s one of the most effective jungle flies out there.

The Arenca Dragon Candy pays tribute to the Arenca, a common prey fish that migrates through the Orinoco and Amazon basins. Its golden shimmer and lifelike movement trigger violent strikes from Payaras, Sardinatas, and even catfish. Proven, reliable, and absolutely essential in your jungle fly box.

Tied on tubes for superior performance — better hook ratio, less fouling, and extended durability as it slides through the shock tippet when a fish is hooked. Plus, you can easily replace or customize hooks.

Each fly includes Trailer hook: a sticky 3/0 rear hook. Recommended for 10–12 weight rods with 400–500 grain sink tips.
