    PAYARA DRAGON CANDY FLY Saltón

    (1 customer review)

    $22.00

Payara Candy – Saltón DRAGON Fly: 9″ hand-tied tube fly with trailer hook, flashy Dragon eyes, and superior hydrodynamics. Proven for Payara, Peacocks, and saltwater predators.

    See description below.

    Description

The Payara Candy – Saltón DRAGON Fly is the next evolution in castable, flashy flies. Featuring my signature Dragon eyes, it combines visual appeal with superior hydrodynamics for swimming through strong currents. Tested for years in the pursuit of Vampire fish, this is one of my favorite jungle predators to target.

Saltón are prey fish commonly found jumping against Colombian river currents, making this fly irresistible to jungle predators. Its colors mimic natural baitfish, even in saltwater environments, making it a must-have in any jungle fly box.

Why so big? Payaras are clever hunters, conserving energy in fast waters and deep pools. This 9″ fly is designed to trigger strikes even from the most cautious predators. Tied on tubes, it improves hook ratio, reduces fouling, and allows easy hook changes.

Each fly comes with trailer hook: a sticky 3/0 rear. Recommended for 10–12 weight rods with 400–500 grain sink tips, ensuring easy casting and deep swinging.

9″ long, tandem hook setup, effective in both jungle and saltwater.

The payara in the Orinoco rapids whacked the crud out of this pattern in Feb, 2024. These flies hold up well to payara teeth, too, and the wire harness minimizes bite-offs.
